Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation

Covington Employment Discrimination Attorneys

Employee Advocates in Kentucky and Ohio

Employers have a responsibility to ensure that their employees are able to do their jobs in a hostile-free and discrimination-free workplace. Unfortunately, this is not always the case and many employees experience harassment, discrimination and retaliation at work.

At the Covington, Kentucky, employment law office of Roush & Stilz, P.S.C., we aggressively advocate for employees that have experienced discrimination, retaliation or harassment in the workplace. We strive to see that employers are held responsible for the illegal actions and see that every employee has the hostile-free work environment to which he or she is entitled.

Discrimination

Covered employers are prohibited from discriminating against any employee or group of employees on the basis of race, creed, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability. Discriminatory actions can include wrongful termination, harassment, demotion, denial of promotion, denial of hiring and mistreatment by bosses or co-workers.

Harassment

Certain types of harassment, including sexual harassment, in the workplace are illegal and should not be tolerated. We work with clients to assess an ongoing case of harassment and take the necessary legal steps to stop the harassment and remedy the situation, including pursuing any damages suffered by the client. Each case is evaluated on an individual basis, as "How much is too much?" and "When is enough enough?" are questions that unfortunately may be different depending upon the situation.

Retaliation

If you believe that your termination, demotion, change in pay, relocation, change in job duties or the hostile treatment you are receiving at work is due to participation in an investigation, or from complaints you have made either to your employer or to a federal or state agency, there are steps you can take to protect yourself and your employment. The reporting of illegal discrimination or harassment, requesting a leave of absence and blowing the whistle on your employer are all grounds upon which retaliation may occur.

There are specific time requirements in which an employment law claim may be filed. If you believe you have experienced retaliation, harassment or discrimination, seek counsel from a lawyer as soon as possible in order to ensure that your rights are preserved.
